It's sad that original director Kenneth Branagh is opted out for the sequel, but Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures are not about to give up yet. Now they have in early negotiations with director Brian Kirk to take over THOR 2.
Who is Brian Kirk anyway? Maybe the HBO's hit medieval series Game of Thrones might jog your memory as he is best known for directing some of the episodes. He was reportedly handpicked by the studio, since he has a proven record of helming a large ensemble in a fantasy epic with a sense of grounded realism. Will he nab the gig? Only time can tell.
THOR 2 is expected to hit theaters on July 26, 2013.
