RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Screenwriters Are Aiming For A Trilogy!

Thanks to the positive word-of-mouth and good opening weekend ($54 million in its first three days) at the box-office, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES was no doubt a surprise hit this summer season. Now EW has reported that the screenwriters couple Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are already teasing a few intriguing ideas leading to more sequels for the movie. To be exact, that will be a trilogy. Here's what they had to say below.

"We definitely have ideas for where the sequel — plural, where the sequels — would take us," says Silver. And those were kind of built into [the narrative]... When we started this, we knew that this movie would stand on its own, and we designed it that way. But if it didn’t stand on its own, we pictured a trilogy that would start with this movie."

"There hasn’t been an official discussion yet about a sequel, because I think everyone still doesn’t want to jinx where we are. But we definitely have ideas."

Apart from that, I'm sure die-hard fans will be rejoice that they are also aiming to bring back Charlton Heston's iconic character Taylor, who previously played in the original PLANET OF THE APES (1968) Here's what Rick Jaffa had to say below.

"We definitely have ideas about that! What better plant can you put in a script then, “Oh my god, Taylor’s going up again!

Well, Fox... what are you waiting for? Approve the sequel already!
