Back in 2006, THE DEPARTED was a top-notch crime picture that won five Oscars including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for William Monahan. But the most memorable win of all is the long-overdue Best Director statuette for legendary director Martin Scorcese. No doubt their collaboration proved to be very successful.
Now the dynamic duo are reuniting for a second time to develop a remake of the 1974's THE GAMBLER which starred then-young James Caan as an English professor with a gambling addiction for Paramount Pictures. Apparently the studio wants Leonardo DiCaprio to lead the cast, although no deal is made at this moment. In the original version, Caan received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor.
