No doubt the 1984 action adventure ROMANCING THE STONE, which starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, is one of Robert Zemeckis's most entertaining movies he ever made. So it's no surprise that Fox is looking to reboot their classic movie one way or another. In fact, the studio has been looking to make the new version for ROMANCING THE STONE for the past four years and now it seems that they are eyeing on Gerald Butler and Katherine Heigl to fill in the leads. Butler will play Douglas's role of Jack Colton, and Heigl will play Turner's role of Joan Wilder. Hmm... sounds like a perfect fit for both of them. After all, both of them acted together before in a 2009 romantic comedy called THE UGLY TRUTH.
