After having a few months' rest with his family ever since he has been working nonstop, martial art superstar Donnie Yen are about to make a quick comeback with two new Chinese movies.
Coming up is a Chinese New Year comedy directed by Chin Hing-Ka (2011's ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011). According to the Chinese title, the movie suggests it may be a remake of Chow Yun-Fat's 1988 classic comedy THE EIGHTH HAPPINESS.
The second movie will be a police action comedy which co-stars Miriam Yeung and Eva Huang. The movie is produced by Chui Po-Chu (KUNG FU HUSTLE, CJ7, THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE).
Hmm... looks like Donnie Yen seems love to do comedies these days. But despite the two projects above, I'm more particularly looking forward for his two possible projects below:
Donnie Yen is rumored to reunite Jackie Chan (both of them featured in 2003's SHANGHAI KNIGHTS and 2004's THE TWINS EFFECT II), in which the pair will play a couple of code-breaking experts working in the police force. The movie will be produced by Jackie Chan and directed by Chinese director Tan Bing, whose movies THE REBIRTH OF THE TRILOBITE and FURIOUS PIANO won critical acclaim. Filming is expected to start in December 2011. Nice...
Last but not least is THE EXPENDABLES 2. Yen was previously invited to join the cast of the all-star action sequel when he was visiting the States. He was yet to confirm the role as his spokesperson indicated that he is currently still considering the offer.
