BLOODRAYNE: THE THIRD REICH (2010)

RATING: 0.5/5

Yawn.... Another BLOODRAYNE movie, another piece of crap. Okay, director Uwe Boll has offered different timelines in his previous two BLOODRAYNE movies. The first one is set in the Middle Ages, and the second one is in the Old West. Both are potentially interesting settings, but Boll made the polar opposite by turning them into complete disappointment. So now here's the third movie, and this time it takes place during WWII. So any luck for improvement? Sorry, folks... Uwe Boll did it again, and it turns out that BLOODRAYNE: THE THIRD REICH fares even worse than the previous two entries.

In this third movie, Rayne (Natassia Malthe) is now fighting against the Nazis in Europe during WWII. After turning Commandant Ekart Brand (Michael Pare) into a vampire during a bloody battle with the resistance fighters lead by Nathaniel (Brendan Fletcher), she soon realizes she's making a big mistake. Now the undead Commandant Ekart Brand becomes stronger than ever, and he is determined to inject Adolf Hitler with Rayne's blood in an attempt to transform him into a dhampir and attained immortality. Rayne teams up with the resistance fighters in their mission to stop Ekart and his soldiers at all cost, before they manage to reach Berlin.

Michael Nachoff's screenplay is awfully thin and full of tired cliches. Not to mention all those bad dialogues and boring characterizations (not even the presence of cult favorite, Clint Howard as a mad Nazi doctor can do much good either) scattering all over the place. You can almost tell how lazy the way Natassia Malthe reprises her role here.

Then there's Uwe Boll. His direction is as passionless as ever, and he shows no sense of pacing and creativity. Worst still, the action are now shot in jittery cameraworks to make them as if like a semi-documentary feel (yeah, right) and all of them are painfully unimaginative. Even his attempt to include some guilty-pleasure moments (read: sex scenes and gratuitous nudity) are hardly matters here. What's with that lesbian scene anyway? Since when Rayne is bisexual?

Seriously though, this lame franchise needs to be rebooted.
