At long last, after months of casting and location scouting, principal photography has finally begun on Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the concluding chapter of Christopher Nolan's BATMAN trilogy.
The all-star cast will be included recent Oscar winner Christian Bale (THE FIGHTER) returning for the third time as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
Also included are Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon, and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
As with THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), Christopher Nolan will utilize IMAX cameras again except this time, he'll be using them extensively than he did last time.
The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, with story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. The movie is again produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on BATMAN BEGINS (2005) and THE DARK KNIGHT.
Other crews for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES reunites the director with several of his longtime collaborators, all of whom worked together on THE DARK KNIGHT. The creative teams are including recent Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister (INCEPTION), production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Lee Smith, costumer designer Lindy Hemming, special effects supervisors Paul Franklin and Chris Corbould. The music will be once again composed by Hans Zimmer.
The locations for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be expanded into three continents and include the American cities of Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles, as well as sites in India, England and Scotland.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will rises into theaters on July 20, 2012.
