Ahem... Russell Crowe As Jor-El In MAN OF STEEL?

Let's close our eyes and take a moment here. When I mentioned Jor-El, can you picture Russell Crowe fitting for that role? If you ask me, putting Crowe as Jor-El sounds like a post-April's Fool joke to me. Then again, we'll see.

Apparently Variety has reported that Crowe is in talks to portray Jor-El in Zack Snyder's superhero reboot MAN OF STEEL. Producer Christopher Nolan has actually been seeking a number of potential actors to land for the role, which includes Sean Penn and Clive Owen. In the end, Crowe emerges as Nolan's most wanted list. Hmm...

Jor-El, is of course, the biological father of Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill). The role was previously played by the late Marlon Brando in Richard Donner's SUPERMAN (1978). As of now, Warner Bros. had no comment on Russell Crowe's casting, and it isn't known how far between the actor and the studio are into the negotiation status.

MAN OF STEEL hits theaters in 2012.
