JOHN CARTER is based on a series of novels created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which tells the story of a world-weary former military captain named John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) is inexplicably transported to Mars (which is actually an exotic planet named Barsoom) where he becomes reluctantly entangled in a conflict amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). Soon Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its inhabitants lies in his hands to save the day. JOHN CARTER will marked director Andrew Stanton as his first live-action feature. He has previously directed three Pixar's animated features (WALL-E, FINDING NEMO and A BUG'S LIFE).
