Fresh off from winning the Midnight Madness sidebar's audience award at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, the Gareth Evans-directed Indonesian action movie extravaganza THE RAID is about to go more popular than they already are. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Screen Gems is in talks for a Hollywood remake of the movie. Gareth Evans is also being offered to direct the remake, but he refused. Instead he plan to make a sequel to THE RAID, which he hopes to shoot in February.
Judging by the recently-released awesome trailer, I'll be surprised what the filmmakers can do to adapt the original movie's silat-fighting style into a Hollywood version. Now that's really interesting.
