IRON MAN scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby To Write TOMB RAIDER Reboot

Previously there are endless talks of rebooting the TOMB RAIDER franchise. When Olivia Wilde (TRON: LEGACY, COWBOYS & ALIENS) is rumored to star as the titular sexy grave digger, die-hard fans are very delighted. But until now, no actual casting has been announced.

However, Academy Award-nominated writing duos of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (CHILDREN OF MEN), who also penned IRON MAN and the upcoming COWBOYS & ALIENS will write the first feature of the newly-announced reboot of TOMB RAIDER franchise.

Graham King and Tim Headington will produce. Here's what King had to say about the writing duos.

"Mark and Hawk's clear sensibilities of action and emotion are perfect for the direction we are taking this franchise."

In the meantime, Mark and Hawk are also delighted to work with the producers.

"We are thrilled to be working with Graham King and his formidable team -- and we aim to write an origin story for Lara Croft that solidifies her place alongside Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor in the pantheon of great female action heroes."

Additionally, Phil Rogers president & CEO, Square Enix Europe is being optimistic with the selection of the writing duos.

"It is great to have such a high caliber of writing talent on board to realize the film vision of this exciting project."

Previously, Paramount Pictures has made two TOMB RAIDER movies, with Angelina Jolie playing the titular role. While the first LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER (2001) is a box-office success, the heavily-panned LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE (2003) is a huge box-office flop that ultimately halted further adventure of a possible third movie.
