Genre mash-up is back on trend again. On this late summer, we're in for a treat of Jon Favreau's sci-fi western, COWBOYS AND ALIENS, which stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde. Next up -- we have director Barry Sonnenfeld who is currently finishing up MEN IN BLACK III slated for next summer, has decided to follow up after that with DOMINION: DINOSAUR VERSUS ALIENS.
Sonnenfeld will team with comic book writer Grant Morrison, whose work includes Batman and The Invisibles, to develop a graphic novel and movie under the title of the same name. Sonnenfeld will direct the movie. Here's what he had to say about the forthcoming project.
"Growing up, my fascination was all things dinosaur, and as an adult, I've had some success making films about aliens, so this is a dream come true. We've been trying to do a project ever since."
The graphic novel, which will be published by Liquid Comics, chronicles on a secret prehistoric world war battle. When an alien invasion attacks Earth in the age of the dinosaurs, the planet's only hope is the giants that roam the planet with, it turns out, a lot more intelligence than previously realized. It is slated to hit store later this year.
Now this would be very interesting if dinosaurs are featured as protagonists. If there's no human involved in the proposed movie version, let's see how far Sonnenfeld and Morrison manage to rise up the challenge. (Of course, if dinosaurs or/and aliens "talk", that will be totally off-putting!)
