POV ROUNDUP: TOMB RAIDER "Turning Point" Trailer Debuts!... And This Is What Filmmakers Should Do For The Movie Reboot!

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have finally revealed the highly-anticipated trailer premiere of their upcoming Tomb Raider video game entitled "Turning Point". Check out the CG trailer below (which I have to admit, looks freakin' amazing although there's no clips of gameplay at sight). The trailer indicates that the video game will be released on fall 2012, which will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platform.

So what's with the big fuss about this latest Tomb Raider video game anyway? You see, GK Films has earlier tapped IRON MAN and COWBOYS & ALIENS scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby to pen the big-screen version of TOMB RAIDER reboot., which is scheduled for 2013 release. And the upcoming "Turning Point" video game release is certainly served as a vital inspiration for the movie reboot. Check out the synopsis below.

In "Turning Point", the video game explores the gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a tough survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold.

See the pattern here? A gritty origin story that has the similar CASINO ROYALE-like vibe is certainly what the filmmakers should be aiming for their upcoming movie reboot. If that's really the case, we might have a winner here.

Oh ya, Olivia Wilde, in my humble opinion, is still the TOP choice to fill in the Lara Croft character previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie in 2001's LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER and 2003's LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE!
