THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT 3 Is A Go!

Back in 1999, unknown directors Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick had unexpectedly created a cinematic phenomenon that gave birth to a new "found-footage" genre. That low-budget indie sensation was THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Unfortunately, a year later, an unexpected sequel arrived in the name of BOOK OF SHADOWS: BLAIR WITCH 2. The much-commercialized sequel was a critical and financial flop at the box-office.

However, a lot of never-ending speculations have surfaced every now and then that the third installment of BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is bound to happen. Well, for die-hard fans out there, directors Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick are still planning to make the third movie after all. Here's what Sanchez had to say below.

It's completely up to Lionsgate. Dan and I are ready to do it. We've been toying around with a sequel idea that we really like. It's just a matter of getting our schedules in line and having Lionsgate sign off on the idea. We've been ready to do a Blair Witch movie for a long time. We're as close as we've ever been to making it happen but it's still not a guaranteed thing.

Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams -- three actors who appeared in the original version will likely return for THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT 3 as well, except that they are not main characters.

The plan is to have them [back]. They're probably not going to be the main characters but they're definitely characters in the sequel.
