Shawn Levy To Direct FRANKENSTEIN Remake!

Does the name of director Shawn Levy (DATE NIGHT, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) and FRANKENSTEIN sounds like an ideal combination? Well, they sounds odd to me but apparently Twentieth Century Fox thinks he's the right choice anyway. The studio has chosen Levy to gear up for the remake of FRANKENSTEIN, a classic monster tale written by Max Landis which has been described as a sci-fi spin on the traditional Mary Shelley story. The new FRANKENSTEIN will be focused on themes of friendship and redemption.

No production has been set yet but Fox wants Levy to fast-track their FRANKENSTEIN movie into production as quickly as possible, given the fact that many similar-themed projects are circling around Hollywood as well. They are including WAKE THE DEAD, a Haley Joel Osmont-starred horror vehicle which focuses on the modern-day horror take based on Steven Niles' graphic novels; Ghost House Pictures' adaptation of Peter Ackroyd's novel THE CASEBOOK OF VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN; and a contemporary take from Columbia Pictures and Matthew Tolmach.
