Sylvester Stallone gives up the director's chair for THE EXPENDABLES sequel

Star-writer-director Sylvester Stallone's all-action star combo, THE EXPENDABLES was one of the most talked-about surprise hits last year. The $80-million budget movie (which was unusually high for a big-budget production that made essentially outside the studio system) ends up grossing a whopping $275-million in global box-office (including $103 million Stateside). The movie also, of course, has re-ignited the fading '80s action-stars of Stallone himself as well as Dolph Lundgren (who once acted together in 1985's ROCKY IV).

Before the first movie has even released, Stallone has been teasing the fans that he has an idea for a sequel. And now, the script for the sequel has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman (the original was written by Stallone and Dave Callaham). This time, the major difference is Stallone wouldn't be involved behind the camera. According to the Los Angeles Times' 24 Frames blog, he ends up meeting with a few directors to helm the sequel. Among which few directors he has been talking to, remains unknown at this moment.

But whoever director he ends up choosing, let's hope THE EXPENDABLES sequel doesn't end up another action movie constantly ruined by those ever-annoying shaky cam and tight editing.
