HIGHLANDER Is Not Dead Yet, Since FAST FIVE Director Justin Lin Still Wants To Do It

It's been a while since I last heard about the cult favorite HIGHLANDER (1986) is going for a reboot treatment. But for the past year, the so-called project has slowly waned until recently MTV Movies Blog gets an exclusive interview with FAST FIVE director Justin Lin that he's still working on it. Here's what he had to say.

"I've been working with ['Iron Man' writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway] on the script. That's one where Summit has been really good [about letting it develop], and for me, it's about making sure that we can take it to the place where I feel comfortable and great about making it. I feel like I have a very good studio and team and we're working on it."

HIGHLANDER is nevertheless one of the many high-profile projects Lin has been working now, but it remains to be seen which movie he's going to end up doing first. And that includes the sequel to FAST FIVE, as well as developing TERMINATOR 5 with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"I have different projects at different stages. You work on so many projects all at once, and at some point, you have to make the call. I feel like right now, 'Highlander' is in pretty good shape, but I still have to see all the other things come together for us to go make it."

Still Lin remains optimistic and enthusiastic about his HIGHLANDER project., even if it's not his currently number one priority -- at least just yet.

"I've been very excited about my take with Art and Matt. We've been working on that. When I get back [from promoting 'Fast Five' internationally] we'll keep working on it."

In the meantime, here's the theatrical trailer of the 1986's HIGHLANDER below (for old time's sake).
