Believe it or not, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined Kim Jee-Woon's upcoming first Hollywood feature, THE LAST STAND, where he will play as a Sheriff. Well, that is according to a Polish distributor who help finance the movie.
This is certainly a good news for fans who longed for the iconic action superstar into live-action role after Schwarzenegger himself has tapped into animated TV series, THE GOVERNATOR. LAST STAND will mark his first role in front of a camera in over 8 years. The movie has been described as a cross between GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS and HIGH NOON.
LAST STAND involves the exploits of a drug cartel leader who storms his way out of a courtroom, hijacks a car, and heads towards the Mexican border. Schwarzenegger will play a sheriff with an inexperienced staff who becomes involved with attempting to stop the drug cartel leader from entering Mexico after the two parties cross paths. Liam Neeson was originally attached for the role, but left the production earlier this year.
While this is a breaking news, it is yet to be confirmed by representatives of the actor. Whether or not Schwarzenegger is really involved in this movie is remained to be seen until further confirmation.
The movie will hit theaters in 2012.
