Marvel Head Kevin Feige Announces HAWKEYE and BLACK WIDOW Could Have Their Own Solo Movies!

I've already seen THOR last weekend and I must say it's a surprisingly very entertaining comic-book adventure. Why I said "surprisingly"? Consider this -- it was directed by Kenneth Branagh who normally helmed Shakespeare-related genres and he's hardly the kind that strikes me ideal as a commercial filmmaker capable to handle big-budget project. You can read my review here at http://caseymoviemania.blogspot.com/2011/04/thor-2011.html and find out yourself. And if you have seen THOR, you know that midway through the movie, there is a brief scene of Jeremy Renner appeared as Hawkeye (minus the costume).

Well, Marvel Films' co-chief Kevin Feige that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye might get his own solo movie treatment, at least after the next year's release THE AVENGERS (scheduled on May 2012). Same goes to Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow who previously appeared in last year's IRON MAN 2., which has been talks for her own solo movie treatment as well. Feige goes on a record saying:

There’s no definitive plans, but we have started talking and talking with Scarlett about what a Widow movie could be. Internally we’ve also started thinking what a ‘Hawkeye’ movie could be, how we could continue to explore the organization [which Samuel Jackson‘s Nick Fury leads] S.H.I.E.L.D, which has a pretty big part in ‘Thor,’ smaller parts in the two ‘Iron Man’ films and has a giant part in ‘The Avengers.’ [So it’s like], what would a stand-alone “S.H.I.E.L.D.” be like? It all goes back to the comics. Sometimes the answer is—when looking at a certain run of issues— ‘no way’ and sometimes the answer is ‘maybe, let’s continue to explore it’ and certainly with Hawkeye and Black Widow those are two that we’re exploring.

What do you think, fanboys? Do you think less popular Marvel characters like Hawkeye and Black Widow need their own solo movie treatments?
