Is BAYWATCH Movie Finally Going To Heat Up The Big Screen?

The TV series of BAYWATCH, which ran for an incredible 11 seasons from 1989 till 2001, was no doubt one of the most popular shows ever made during the particular era. The show had also made a couple of stars out of David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and many others as well. The highly-debated, feature-length version of BAYWATCH has been going on for years since 2004.when DreamWorks first optioned the rights. However, the proposed movie had been struggling in the script stage and hardly getting past into production ever since then. Now, a new draft is being written by TV's Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan. According to Tolan, his version of the BAYWATCH script has little to do with the original TV series. Here's what had to say below.

It's not based on the show in any way, though there are a couple of winks at the show. I don't know anything about the show. I didn't watch it in preparation for writing this.

Furthermore, he also added that there are roles written for both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, but ironically they wouldn't be the iconic character they played in the series.

Okay, a BAYWATCH movie that has little to do with the TV series? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. But then again, is Tolan trying to ape Christopher Nolan?
