Mel Gibson And Joe Eszterhas Are Going Jewish On JUDAH MACCABEE!

Now this is something beyond expectation. I mean can you picture actor/director Mel Gibson and once-controversial screenwriter Joe Eszterhas (BASIC INSTINCT, SHOWGIRLS) team up to do a movie together? Well, apparently Warner Bros. has set up an untitled drama that sees them collaborating to tell a heroic story of Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee.

In the remarkable story, Maccabee joined his father and four brothers to lead the Jewish revolt against the Greek-Syrian armies that had conquered Judea in the second century B.C.

Such story is a good turning point for Gibson and Eszterhas, in which both of them see their career have been stalling for far too long. For Gibson, his last taste of success was the Mayan drama called APOCALYPTO (2006), while Eszterhas's finest hour dated way back in the 80s (1983's FLASHDANCE, 1985's JAGGED EDGE) and 90s (1992's BASIC INSTINCT).
